The problem is: How will the “quality of life for a billion people”
improve if the price of a commodity as essential as the LPG rises beyond
the reach of the Common Man? Before taking the climacteric decision on
FDI the government had capped the number of cooking gas cylinders at six
which means that only that many cylinders will come at the current
price of Rs. 399 (in Delhi). The cost of every additional cylinder will
be at around Rs. 770 per cylinder. Not only will it leave the household
of the Common Man in disarray but also threatens to eliminate him
completely.
